Republicans and conservatives thumb their nose at student loan forgiveness but not at tax breaks for the rich… bye… Biden on the other hand has been given the framework for effective loan forgiveness since he was running for President. $50K will bring the majority of people out of this shackle of debt.
Please stop comparing this debt to any other kind of debt. For starters this debt was not voluntary… if you did not have the money… you need a student loan if financial aid grants did not cover tuition. Two, its not like any other debt… thanks to Congress and special interests — this debt cannot be discharged through a bankruptcy like all other debt. Three, you cannot say, “I would like my mortgage forgiven” because it’s not the same kind of loan, student loans were for an opportunity to work toward an education… not a tangible commodity that you live or drive in. No your taxes won’t increase cause of student loans — stop being an asshole. Most of those whose loans would be forgiven have jobs you hateful member of society.
As absurd as those arguments are, we have the President making equally out of touch, inane, quite frankly dumb assumptions as well. No one has just $10K in loans… the lowball number has always been $30K. He doesn’t want to cancel loans for people who went to ivy league schools, what… no one cares about that, but those people also will not truly benefit from
$10K. When is the last time Biden saw what tuition was for a public college? If you are going to do it — do it right, because this will never be done again so why half ass it.
Biden became President because the millions and millions of people did not want the other guy. But what are you doing with this golden opportunity… do this right at least… this is totally in your hands… and your fucking it up… obviously not listening to anyone around you… and just being stubborn and out of touch…
